Pakistan's summer is hard on skin. Heat and humidity push oil production up, sweat and dust clog pores, and UV levels sit in the very high to extreme range for months. The answer isn't a complicated routine. It's a few basics done right every day.
1. Use a mild cleanser
When skin gets oily and sweaty, it's tempting to reach for the strongest face wash you can find. But a cleanser that strips every trace of oil leaves skin tight, and stripped skin often produces even more oil, which means more shine and more breakouts.
Choose a gentle cleanser that removes sweat, dirt and sunscreen while keeping your skin's natural balance. If you're prone to breakouts, a sulfate-free salicylic acid wash like our Acne Control Cleanser clears pores without that squeaky, stripped feeling.
Tip: pat your face dry with a clean towel instead of rubbing it.
2. Moisturise, even in summer
Many people in Pakistan skip moisturiser in summer because their skin feels oily. But oily skin can still be dehydrated, and dehydrated skin often overcompensates with more oil. The fix is the right texture. Look for a moisturiser that is:
- Lightweight
- Oil-free
- Non-greasy
- Non-comedogenic (won't clog pores)
Our Oil Free Moisturizer absorbs quickly and hydrates without leaving skin shiny.
3. Make sunscreen your daily habit
Summer UV in Pakistan is intense enough to burn unprotected skin quickly, and it is the biggest driver of tanning, dark spots and early ageing. Choose a sunscreen that is:
- Broad spectrum (protects against UVA and UVB)
- SPF 50 or higher for long days outdoors
- Light enough to wear in the heat
Our Sunscreen SPF 70 is lightweight, non-greasy and leaves no white cast. Reapply every two hours outdoors and after sweating. Not sure which SPF you need? Read SPF 50 vs SPF 70.
4. Exfoliate gently, a few times a week
Sweat, oil and dead skin build up quickly in summer and leave skin dull and congested. Gentle chemical exfoliation clears that buildup without the irritation of rough scrubs.
Our Glycolic Acid Toner exfoliates, helps unclog pores, smooths texture and helps fade acne marks. Use it two or three nights a week, and always wear sunscreen the next morning, because exfoliated skin is more sensitive to the sun.
5. Stay hydrated
Your body loses a lot of water through sweat in summer. Drink water steadily through the day. A splash of cool water on your face can help you feel fresh, but reapply sunscreen afterwards if you're heading outside.
A simple summer routine
- Morning: mild cleanser, oil-free moisturiser, sunscreen
- Evening: cleanser, glycolic acid toner (two or three nights a week), oil-free moisturiser
Frequently asked questions
Should I wash my face more often in summer?
Twice a day is enough. Washing more often strips the skin and can make it oilier. Rinse with water after heavy sweating if needed.
Is moisturiser necessary for oily skin in summer?
Yes. A light, oil-free moisturiser keeps skin hydrated and can actually reduce excess oil.
How often should I reapply sunscreen in summer?
Every two hours when you're outdoors, and after sweating or swimming.
Winter needs a slightly different approach. See why oil-free sunscreen is important in winter.
